Online backup help

I just had a severe problem with my 6 months old hard disk and don't want to take any chances to lose data. I already have an external HD on which I back up the more important files but it's a real pain, and I can't do it every day. So now I have decided to opt for a online backup service. Can anybody recommend a reliable back up service?

IMO an on-line backup takes a tremendous amount of time for any substantial amount of data.
Local backups are an order of magnitude faster than an online backup.

Have you thought about a simple backup script (a few copy commands) that can be put in a recurring job schedule?

A search for "online backup service reviews" will return several links to service evaluation reports.

THis really depends where youi are and if you are a home or business user,
If you have just a desktop and already have an exteranl drive,i'd recommend that you use an image based backup product such as acronis, shadowprotect etc to do a daily automatic image based backup fo your pc to the external drive this will allow you a full system recovery onto another machine in a few minutes.
Additionally if you then combine this with a file level backup from several of the online providers you will have the best of both worlds.
We do this for lots of Irish companies.
