Sharepoint - How To Fine Tune Custom Lists

I am using Sharepoint Team Services, which comes with Office XP. Every time i create a custom list a default attribute "Title" is been added which is automatically linked to the item.
My requirement is to have a Date Picker which i want to link to the item.

here is what i am trying to work out
1. Is there a way to change the Form element on the web page to date picker instead of existing test field?
2. If not i can simply remove the "Title" field from the view but still need a solution to link a new attribute to the whole item, as i don't want to give edit link on the page when it is viewed.

Any help is really appriciated.

You can rename the Title column, but you can not delete it. When creating a view, however, you can include the column text without the link. Choose "Title" instead of "Title (linked to item)"
