I just joined this forum. My particular interest is in the apparent convergence of IT management into an overall ERP-like capability; I have written quite a bit on this at www.erp4it.com .

Does anyone else view the problem in this way, that we have a proliferation of internal IT silos and increasing pressure to break down their walls? I would argue that

-enterprise architecture
-application portfolio management
-metadata management

and the ITSM processes of config, change, release, incident, etc should all be back-ended by the same system or at least the same platform/architecture.
