Alternative to Listproc Mailing List software? Please help

Hello,
I am doing a school business project and I am working with a client who wants an alternative to Listproc Mailing List software for his non-profit organization. There are only about 600-700 members in the organization. Is there an alternative to Listproc that would be based on a username/password format or a certain forum software that would essentially do the same thing as Listproc?

If you don't Listproc, you can the free version sendblaster, it is a strong mailing list manager and free to use for non-profit organization.
