Question Post Form Results to Database in Sharepoint

Greetings,

I'm running Sharepoint Service 2.0 on a web server with a seperate SQL server for the back-end DB.

I want to create a simple page with some corporate policy materials and provide the user a text box at the bottom whereby they can submit their name indicating that they accept the policy. I also want to include the policy revision (which can be hard coded), the date/time, and the username.

I have a seperate DB on the SQL server to collect the results of this simple form in a single table.

I created a Document Library and a Web Part Page. I insert the Form Web part, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get the form results to go to an alternate database. I even try it using FrontPage 2003 with no luck.

Can anyone suggest anything? What I really want is to be able to use Sharepoint pages to input data into a seperate SQL database. Seems basic but I've never been able to figure it out.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Chris

I would create a custom list or survey for the response. Then, update the NewForm.aspx page in FrontPage to include your policy material.

If you really need the data outside of WSS, you can export the list/survey to Excel.

That works!

Thanks for that. I did as you said and it worked well. I modified the Item Level Security as well so that users may only view their own entries. Thanks again for the input!
