Alternative to Sharepoint

I've looked into Sharepoint and realized it would be overkill for my organization. There are lots of good resources/vendors who can give you the basic features and a fraction of the cost. Most offer no long term commitment, and no set up costs. I ended up signing up with Project Story's WebFiles (see www.pswebfiles.com/splash/ ) but there are others out there. I'd encourage you to look around at the competitors before you go with Sharepoint. Just my two cents worth!

And you didn't even mention that Sharepoint Portal Server requires you to buy a license for every single user. (Not authors/editors -- users.)
