Offshoring -- From an Indian's Perspective

The vice president of a major IT services company in India talks about offshoring -- from a different perspective -- in an article on Datamation. How can U.S. companies ensure their outsourced projects succeed? How much competition is China? And will American political pressure affect their business?

What do you think about what he has to say?

Take Advantage of Our Advantages

I'm posting this for a reader who emailed me a comment on the story... along with permission to post it on this Forum.

''For a while we're going to lose most of the routine work offshore companies and, as long we are taxed at 40% of our income, we'll never compete in price sensitive markets. To compete we have to take advantage of our advantages. We're in the same time zone, we can get twinkies and soda at 2:00 am and the best women in the world live here. Women's desires, hopes, ideas, attitudes and the simple joy of their presense shapes everything we do here. The women in our workplaces are like a creative fire that gives us a style and and a mystique that can't exist anywhere women aren't partners in the enterprise. The innovations and breakthoughs that create industry leadership aren't going to happen in India, Pakistan or China. They are going to happen where men and women work together, play together, tease each other, argue and find new ways to turn problems into opportunities. A place like the U.S.A.''
